And SEBA #3 is GO!!!!!

OK, so the forecast is looking decent for tomorrow's SEBA #3, between 50-60% humidity and in the 80s for the bike and the run leg. Now if the 60% chance of showers can be limited to the swim and the run, we'll be good.

I'm going to try to mix things up a little and take some gels on the bike in order to avoid the powerbites spontaneously turning into barf flavored nuggets come mile 40. The Gatorade Endurance formula seems to work better for me than the Accelerade, as well, so I'm glad I made the switch there.

Any more nutrition/hydration advice for the last SEBA!?? I've been taking in around 800 calories on the bike and going through about 60 oz of fluids (give or take), and that seems to set things up for a decent run. I just want to try to avoid that stomach/hip cramp this time - it's become quite the little thorn in my side. Da dum, dum...

Yeah, I know.

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but Hamer Gel/E-Caps makes a product (Endurolytes), a capsule that is an amazingly good elyctrolite replacement. Almost all endurance mountain bikers around here use them; they really help avoiding muscle cramping on the long hauls. Easy to take & carry.

I was just going to comment about Hammer/E-Caps.

www.e-caps.com

I really like their Hammer Gel, and I use (but don't love the taste of) their Hammer Heed (2 hours or less of trianing or racing) and Sustained Energy (2 hours or more).

The Ednuralytes are also spoken highly of, but I've not tried those (yet).

I've been trying a lot of different products, and I'm leaning towards the Hammer ones.

I can't do Accelerade either. It's just too pasty and foamy and I don't really care for the taste of any of their products.

Where did you get your Gatorade Endurace stuff? I checked around a couple places here and nobody seems to carry it. I wouldn't think that I have to mail order something like this?

I agree on the Endurolytes, although you're rapidly running out of opportunities to try them before the race. It takes E-Caps two weeks just to ship stuff sometimes.

Hope you have a great day Wil! Looking forward to the report.

Chris - I noticed that my local supermarket (Shaw's/Star Market) had the gatorade endurance formula...it was in bottles...I didn't happen to notice if they had powder too. As an aside, I tried some lemon/lime endurance powder that came in a race goody bag and it was nasty tasting at full strength and even worse once it was warm...perhaps try it at varying strengths...but I did notice it didn't give me the same reflux that the regular gatorade tends to do...

Have a great time out there today and be careful of rabid dogs!

"It's" almost here...(the race).

Good luck and health for SEBA #3.

I use the Hammer Endurolytes for my long rides. They are great. It really seems to balance everything out.

I also mix my hammer gel (raspberry flavor) in with my gatorade. A calorie packed drink for sure

Isn't Gatorade Endurance just more sugar and salt?

Ok, this is gross, I once added more sugar and salt to Gatorade, but added too much salt. ALWAYS test a concocted drink BEFORE you gulp it on a run. Trust me.

Good luck in SEBA#3! Should be a good hard swim/ride/run.

Looks like you got some great advice there already no need to repeat it all. Good luck Wil
