A Funny Thing Happened...

All at once my life jumped into one of my minutes today. I don’t know how it all fit in that little space, and I don’t know if I should be happy that it was that simple, or disappointed that it wasn’t more complex.

Either way, it was a hell of a thing letting my hair out of my four-year-old daughter’s plastic butterfly bobble hair band as I got into the shower to wash off bike grease, and then change into my suit to go and teach my Monday/Wednesday grad class.

And I smiled because I knew I couldn't wait to write the whole mess down.

Just saw your comment, thanks! K and I enjoy reading your blog - just reading about your workouts is exhausting, but inspirational and fun! Your kids are adorable.

I used to love triathlons and long-distance running until my feet got mad at me and I started focusing on the bike. What I love about cycling is that you can ride forever - on weekends when I return after 6 or 8 hours it's to make it home in time for dinner, not because of fatigue.

But although it feels great (especially on hilly routes), and I go at a decent clip, your 1/2 ironman training - and greater focus on speed - is just a much better workout, since you're not sitting down the whole time!

Good luck with the upcoming races!

You teach a grad school class? I don't remember that. Very cool, Wil.

kinda Superman-like Wil.

just replace the shower with a phone booth, and you're there.

and, probably switch off the bobble hair band for a cape, and you're maybe even closer...

It is a beautiful thing...and it takes a beautiful person to see it as beautiful. Too many people may see all of the busy-ness as annoying...but what you write of, Wil...this is life, and life is beautiful, if you choose to see it that way.

Blessings.

I used to think things like that indicated my life was schizophrenic. It's only been lately that I've been able to see them as signs of a well-rounded life. :-)
