Little Things Come in Big Packages

So it's here! The 2007 start date is officially on the books, and with it a whole new set of rules.

One of my main focuses this year is going to be nutrition – last year I effed this so bad it's mother wouldn't even recognize it. My biggest bad habit was eating at all the wrong times, or not eating at all. For example, I more than sometimes didn't eat before or after a workout, instead would just fall asleep, or write, or something like that. It wasn't until very late in the season that I even remotely started getting my act together with this – aaaaaand then I let it go all to hell again after Ironman with the not eating business.

So, all done with that. Been on track with the six small meals a day since the beginning of the year. Each of the meals are around 300-400 calories and consist of a protein, carb, fruit and/or vegetable. I know that doesn't sound like a whole lot of calories for a whole meal, but multiply 300-400 by six and it adds up. Not to mention if you click here, you can see just how little things can come in big packages - just look how much food 200 calories worth of decent stuff actually is!

Sleep has been a lot better since I’ve started a new routine as well. Valerian Root smells vile, like will wake you up if you’re already asleep kind of vile, but if you take it about an hour before bed it's pretty decent for helping you sleep. My coach recommended Kava-Kava, another herb, and when I run out of Valerian, if I still need it to sleep, I'll try that. Hopefully it doesn't smell like jungle.

Hey, you know something... it feels really good to be back.
