Photoshop of Horrors

Well it's been a while since we've checked in with the magazine retouching industry, so have a peek at this site James just sent me, and scroll over each photo to see the before images. Be sure to set down all hot beverages beforehand however, lest you startle.

Not even perfection is perfect, but it's so easy to forget that when we're immersed in afters...

That one actually isn't so bad. I would guess that if the model would have actually smiled in the 'before' shot, not much would have been needed, as that would have lifted her eyes a bit and curled the lips.

I see a big difference in the hair, but isn't that just the result of sloppy hair dressing on the 'before' pic?

I won't go near the nose, as I don't think it was bad to begin with.

I'd say this is the result of a lazy photographer and lighting crew; that or somebody with Photoshop skills that took a stock photo and touched it up in order to get recognized.

Wil -- If you have not already seen it, check out this article in the May 12 New Yorker about Pascal Dangin, "the premier retoucher of fashion photographs."

Ack - most of the shots were pretty unattractive before- afterward they just looked - not actually dead, but not actually alive.
